Hey,
I have a sony tc-777 (early mid sixties). Pretty cool little machine, nice and portable (suitcase model) and has some nice appointments. I have used it to make a few recordings and have always noticed that the right channel requires more gain for recording and playback as compared to the first channel. Also when I turn on the machine I get a slow swelling ocean sound that actually cascades a couple of times like waves... the same thing happens when I turn it off but its a little more of a pop, like when you turn of a tube amp.
I have the sony repair manual on pdf took it apart and cleaned out some of the switches yesterday, it worked for an hour then and now the right channel works intermittently. Anyone have any ideas? I have a 388 and have done some maintenance to it thanks to the forum
