okay,
My band spends approx $3000 yearly on recording demo material, and honestly, if we had the budget we would do even more. so I want to start recording us ourselves, it dosn't have to be release quality but it would be nice to be fairly clear and listenable. so heres my criteria, I was wondering what you folks would recomend:

-$3500 can. ($2000 - 2500 us.)...but I'm flexable on that if you can convince me. (not including mics)
-16 tracks
-at least 8 simultaneous recordable tracks, or at LEAST 6 but really more like 8
- fairly portable
-what ever format it records to should be easy to dump on to a c.d.
-like I said earlier, good quality but not fantastic...its for demo recording only

from what I've read and conversations I've had, it sounds like I'm looking for some sort of digital mixer+ADAT combo but I'm not even sure what that means. and unless they are realy that far superior I'm not wild about P.C. based systems.

anyways, I'm egarly awaiting your suggestions
tanx in advance.
-kyle

I would look into the stand alone digital recorders with built in CD writer if your not interested in the PC route.
And possibly a digital mixer.
