So I just got a bunch of second hand microphones for £419 + £15 delivery. They are: -

Audio Technica AT4033a
Oktava MK-012-01 matched stereo pair
Rode NT1-A
AKG C1000S

I was primarily looking for the Oktava pair for acoustic guitar recording, but saw the package with the AT4033a that I researched a bit and would quite like to try for vocals (I'm hoping it will be some upgrade from my SE2200a). Otherwise, I can sell the remaining couple of mics and/or the AT4033a or SE2200a if I decide they're not useful for me.

So, any thoughts - did I get done on the price? I think it was good - I've not seen the Oktava pair for less than £300, but haven't been looking long.

sounds like a bargain to me
Post up some samples of the octavas and At4033a please

Sounds like a great deal to me. Check to see if your Oktavas are legit: Oktava: Attention – Fakes | Fake Oktava MK-012 Photos

If your Oktavas turn out to be fake, don't worry! Fortunately the fake Oktavas are actually pretty good :) You still got everything for an amazing price. I paid around $400 (£320) for my used [real] Oktava pair. I think you'll get a lot of use out of the Audio Technica LDC too.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. It didn't occur to me that they might be fake. I've checked the microphone pics against that link and they certainly look like the genuine ones. Guess I'll find out for sure tomorrow!

I have both real and fake Oktava MK-012's and there really isn't much difference between them sonically.

But the 3rd pair that I have were modified by Michael Joly at Oktavamod sure are different!
Really became much better microphones. Not to say that the unmodded are bad they are good. Just brought them to a whole new level. ;)
