My Lobotomy Baby

Love those lyrics!! Nice contrast to the cool jazzy music ;)...the soloing guitar in the background may be just a tad too distant/verby sounding..to my ears anyways. LIke the little panning moment around 2:30.
Very cool song!!

The Ramones did a lobotomy song, and those lyrics could be a continuation of it. Pretty funny. I'm not digging the mix of keys, adult-contemporary vocals, and wongo guitar wankery in the background. The whole thing sounds sort of disheveled, but I guess it works for a lobotomy song. The mix sounds good. Maybe a little wet, but good.

Thanks, Queepy,

I had a hard time layering the lead git. I may try to clean it up a bit. Glad you like the song.

Thanks, Greg,

This song was hard to mix because I found the wongo git hard to sit in the mix. I might get the player to retrack it with a little less spaghetti. Hard to know how a lobotomy song is supposed to sound. I was thinking harmonies on the vox, but that might be too much.

Very nice tune, Wig!:)
Love the catchy hookline in the chorus. my only nit would be the lead guitar in the background. it sounds kind of disjointed from the rest soundwise. Maybe too much verb or distortion? But anyway, great song and your voice is wonderful as always.

This was a fun listen :).

From past tracks you've posted, I really associate your voice with sincerity and earnestness, so this is kind of weird what with the subject matter and all...

I agree with others that the distorted guitar lends a sort of disjointed quality to the whole thing, but that may be just what you're going for here. Very out of character seeming here, but, as I said, fun :D.

It becomes my cacophony baby in parts.
The lyrics and melody work really well. I'd actually like it with a simple arrangement so that juxtaposition of melody & theme get some air.
I see the point of the arrangement & it's fun but it gets in the way of a song.
You could make the point with acoustic guitar, vocals and harmony with some simple piano that trips the light atonal in the right spots.
Excellent adventure Wig.

Ditto to this, I think it would be cool as a stripped down number.

That shredding in the background is a total bummer, at least to my ears.

i like the lyrics. i kinda like the wailing guitar in the background sort of at a distance from things. i think the drums are too aggressive for such a passive tune. i think a more jazzy sort of style of drumming would suit the song better. less kick more toms. just in general play the drums differently. This is a drum machine right? also i think the snare tone is all wrong way too smacky.

Agreed on electric guitar, and the panning is spacey (which I liked)! I got used to the guitar after a bit. Wouldn't notice if I wasn't critically listening which is becoming harder and harder to do heh.

I like the dynamics on the keys, especially at the beginning, some hard/soft.

Seemed recorded well, nice job overall.

Agreed.

Besides that, I like the tune. You have a great voice, and this is a nice melody. The overall arrangement is a little busy, I find, but it might suit the spirit of the song that you're going for. Again, I have to repeat that your voice is great in this.

I love your voice, Wig, my friend. I agree that the mix is a little busy. Maybe the electric guitar is doing too much in the backgorund. Your songs are always very nice to listen to.

I have to comment on this song. It is a very cool listen. I really like your voice. It sounds very nice. What processing did you do on it? The mix sounds good to me. I wouldn't change anything. Don't retrack the guitar. That is the coolest thing. It makes the song sound great! Good song! :D

Bump Bump

I did a new mix of lead guitars but I can't edit the original thread.

I posted it as a reply, but no one knows it's there. It's the post above this one.
