Hey Mr.King,

No need to apologize for growing up in the 80's. It wasn't your fault man:D I grew up in the same time frame but I was too busy listenting to Tears for Fears and Cinderella to know what was what.;)

Great cover! This has "fun to do" written all over it. I thought you maybe could trade some bass volume for rhythm git but WTFDIK. I'm gonna rip the sleeves off my T-shirt, crack open a Bud and listen again!

Thanks for sharing,

Theron.

for the most part, I really like Motley....
you did a decent cover. This would rock in a bar band with some volume shakin' my beverage.

Hey Bro! Nice job on this tune. Liked it alot. Really decent mix IMHO.

I never heard the original, but you are rockin' on this one! The guitars seem perfect for this, and the bass is mixed right where it should be too. I would have put some alteration in the drum part, but maybe this is exactly what they did in the song, so what do I know!

You always get good grooves going in your stuff. keep up the good work!

I think some Crue licks would compliment your Ray Charles voice:D

What's a little hairspray & makeup between friends?

Ah yes, the 80's, when hairspray & makeup on a guy just meant one thing, "I'm a badass".

I don't know Motley Crue songs, per se, 'cause my era was the 70's, but your cover is really good. As far as I know, that sounds exactly like Motley Crue. It's a good, rockin cover, and not lame-ass at all, or anything to be ashamed of. It sounded great to me, and the playing's really good.

I still think your "Number 9 Dream" is one of the best covers I've ever downloaded! [but where's the ah-bowakowa part?]

I dunno! In the 80's I was listening to Don Henley, ZZTop, the Cars, Dire Straits and the Police. I never wandered much into the Crue, AC/DC territory. Oh, but I did play "Should I Stay or Should I Go", which should count for something (maybe).

There's lots of stuff I've never heard. I didn't buy Frampton Comes Alive, Dark Side of the Moon, or Rumours either, but radio played them constantly, so it was almost like owning the albums. Somehow Motley Crue fell through the cracks.

Now Spinal Tap! There was a landmark group!

Yeah!!!!!All of the sudden Im back in the Jacksonville Coliseum circa 1986 watching these nuts open up for OZZY!I agree with MIXMKR,this would have a bar crowd going nuts if it was played with the same intensity and volume as this recording.

Killer cover.:D

The kick is somewhat overpowering. Kinda sounds like my Tyrant kick, which looking back sounds too high-frequency heavy. Sounds like the drums are a bit to the left, which isn't that good IMO. The vocal mixing sounds very 80's, which can be excused since this is an 80's cover. The guitar tone sounds a bit thin, but I guess that's what it sounded back then. The solo tone could have used some fattening, though. Not bad. I haven't heard the original, so I can't tell if this is a exact cover or something, but this ain't bad.

-EDIT-

But if this is really what the Crue sounded back then... well, you did awesome :D (I wouldn't know)

Big hair is back! Bring on the strippers! You got the chops my friend. Do you have a compressor on the two track? I thought I could hear a bit of pumping. Still, great cover.

hey man, I dont want to sound like a dork, but one of my favorite parts was left out

It's the little guitar thing that happens in the middle of the chorus parts.. you did something else in it's place.. It also sounded a bit like you were singing too low.. I dont mean notes, I mean like the vocal mix was too loud when you were laying the vocal track you didnt have to push your voice at all.. You should crank up the music so you have to push your voice a bit while recording it.. You sound too relaxed and you should be pushing it a bit more IMOP... I also thought the guitar was a bit on the small side.. There were many crucial parts missing.. (i.e. "HEY!" and all the other crucial back up parts)

not a bad job overall though..

Thank you all for the great comments, you guys are MUCH too kind. I recorded it kinda as a throwaway so I didnt put a lot of effort into it. More for my own entertainment and for yours as well. You all are the greatest...keep your stuff coming!!!

480,000 people... but godammit, we had front row for the Crue at the US Fest! ... Nice cover; I think there are alot more of us who would love to post stuff like this - covers we grew up on, I mean... it's fun, and good mixing practice, too! Vocals are a hair too wet (IMHO), but overall, everything sits well in the mix... Here's to fish-net, Aqua-Net (white can) hair spray, and eye liner!!:D :D :D  :D :D :D

I was at the US-83 festival, on day 3, the "pop" day.

Pretenders, U2, Missing Persons, Stevie Nicks, David Bowie.

Ah, the 80's, those were the days.;)
