I'm reasonably new to HD recording having spent many years with a 4 track quite happily BUT when I 1st began HD recording I used the comp's Creative Live.
I wasn't really much chop - not even for restoring LPs for transfer to CD.
I've slowly upgraded through eBay as time & money has allowed & through cards such as turtle beach which was a significant improvement & am aiming for M Audio or higher. I should soon have a good card & am holding off on recording to some degree until I have a good one. NO, I'm not chasing the lastest UPGRADE, or salivating after promos & ads - just using my ears.
If you're prepared to accept, as I was, that your 1st recordings will be lo fi & conversions far less than optimum go Creative BUT if you want to start with something you won't want to scrub & re do get a good card.
I'd love to recapture the stuff I recorded with the Creative card using a good card. I just have to accept that those things were a) the past & b) part of learning my way through.
EBay really will help you get the goods good & cheap.
