so im getting frustrated here...
my biggest irritation with recording guitar is this :
When listening to a lot of decent recordings (not even pro just done well) the guitars sound like they could be right there in the room with you. sounds great! but my guitars always SOUND like ive mic'd up an amp.. if that makes sense to any one..
but yes, my rig im running is just a firepod firewire interface directly to my pc. running cubase sx3. recording with an Audix I-5 off axis but against the grill. I usually do a parametric sweep on the guits to cut out unwanted freqs, making sure not to cut the mids, and then boost in the highs about 3.5k and 7k-ish.
any way, i have a few tracks in the mixing clinic, just do a search for "hell to pay" and you can hear my tracks and see if you can hear where im coming from and any suggestions you might have!
