my first mix... educated ears appreciated...

hi folks,
everyone here seems to be pretty learned on everything sound related so I'd really appreciate even some first impressions any of you have of this track, as it'd probably save me months of chasing my tail!

I recorded it in my bedroom using a two year old m-box and ibook, the guitar is micced using a very entry level audio technica condenser mic, same goes for the vocals and acoustic bass. the piano is just plugged directly in...

On myspace they restrict you to only putting up 192kbps mp3's which I know probably doesn't give the best representation, but i guess the problems in the mix will be obvious to anyone with a lot of experience.

Nice backing vox mate!! Just a tad 'spookey and haunting'.,,which is good!

I'm not going to tear it apart with 'learnedness', why? It's a beautiful piece! ....and that's all that matters!!

The reversing effect you have at the end???....just try to keep that a little more understated....less will be more with that particular part.....
all else...well,... I fucking love it!! I'm keeping it!

there's three very simple piano parts being played at the end, one carrying the original melody, another at half speed and a third one at quarter speed in reverse...

you're right about the whole less is more thing, when that part enters it does seem to kinda swallow everything that was there before it...
