...can I use this for multi-tracking without too many problems?

I know a P4 with an 800mb bus would be better, but so would be being a handsome millionaire...upgrading at this time is not an option.

What say you?

If thats all ya got .... thats all ya got ..... multitracking has been and still is being done on far lesser machines. The addition of a second hard drive dedicated for the working directory of all the recorded and played back audio will only make your setup better. Not to mention the fact that you can get a 7200 RPM drive for fairly cheap now-a-days.
Figure out what your budget is for doing recording and what expectations you have as far as number of simultaneous tracks you want to be able to record. Then you can start shopping for the soundcard that will fit your needs.

Other helpful info on you computer would be ....
What Operating System?
What chipset is used on the mother board?
What type of video card?
Is this a laptop or a desk top?
Trouble free tracking can be achieved with certain attention being paid to the setup of the computer.
There are multiple tweaks that can be done to the OS for better DAW performance.
Spending some time searching throughout this forum will yield great amounts of information.
