hey,

nice functional looking setup.

Do you bring all your gear to your church to record??

Is that a hassle?

Thanks for the note.

I only haul the ADAT rack out with me which, while a bit heavy, isn't too bad. I have a patchbay setup at the church which is connected to the channel inserts on our Mackie 32x8 board. I pick off whichever 16 channels give me the best coverage of whichever vocal/instrumental group is playing (our format rotates every week between a rock/contemporary style, to jazz, to a full blown orchestra with choir). I really need 20 tracks to get everything (including a stereo pair in the house), but this gives me the chance to learn how to mix, and my results have been decent. If I hadn't had to build the room, I would have purchased a 24-track hard disk recorder (ie. HD24) by now, which would have been much lighter.

In 2 months our church is moving into a brand new facility and then the real fun begins. We are going to have a new Midas Legend 3000 console with 50-odd channels, and I only have 16 to record on.

My operation has been down for about 6 months due to a flood in my basement, which also gave me the excuse to build the room. I'll be recording again this weekend for the first time since September, so I'm looking forward to that.

Darryl.....
