I've just bought a pair of Alesis M1 620 active monitors.
They have a volume control on the back, and if I turn it up more than halfway, I get a kind of soft hissing (white noise?) from the tweeters, even with nothing connected to the inputs.
Is this normal?
It's not very loud, but I can hear it when there's nothing else coming through the speakers, and I now seem to be aware of it all the time.
I did make the mistake of switching my speakers on before I switched my mixer on (one time only) and when I put the mixer on it made quite a loud crackle in the speakers. I'm wondering if I've damaged the tweeters.
Thanks
