maybe he has to sell the crack he bought with the money to make a profit before finishing the deal?
or maybe it was doubling down in L-Vegas and the numbers didn't come thru?

seems an email wouldn't be much to ask for, over this length of time?
I'd be concerned by now.

off subject, i sold my drums in person, pawn shop and got a better deal than Guitar Center offered....thanks alot to this thread for reminding what happens when things get messed up.

yeah, Ebay and virtual paypal stuff is great when it works......

good luck, hope it gets resolved in a positive way.

Well, I received word from Paypal yesterday stating that, while they do rule in my favor on the matter, they were unable to recover any funds. They now consider the case closed and, unless mistarags suddenly reopens his account, there is nothing further they can do.

Someone made a post last week stating that a local law enforcement agent can make an arrest if there is sufficient evidence to do so. Does anyone have anything further to add to this scenerio? In fact, does anyone have anything to add whatsoever?

Thanks!

i'm surprised...better email the GOOD GUY LIST too.

thats awful strange PayPal usually freezes the money...I'll bet he closed his account.

Thats the problem with waiting.

He set it up aparently...getting on the GOOD FOOLS LIST first, played the whole scam...probably will be back under another identity.

this makes even Guitar Center look good.

Magnum,
That was me talking about local law enforcement. Federal and state law enforcement typically won't get involved unless it's at least $50K. Get the telephone number for the sheriffs office where this jerk lives and call them. Better yet, get in touch with your local sheriffs office, explain the situation, show them what evidence you have (emails, a printout of this forum thread, pay pal receipt, etc). Ask them to contact the other sheriffs department. Tell them you will swear out a warrant if need be. That usually costs about $25 but varies depending on your local department. If they won't do it then contact the other sheriffs department. You'll have to make some long distance phone calls but it's worth it to nail this asshole.

If the asshole is reading this, and I'm sure he is, I hope he's ready for a sheriffs investigator to be digging into whatever other shit he's into. Kinda like pulling someone over for a bad tail light. They're gonna look around. This kind of thing really pisses them off. They tend to take a personal interest in it. Make your life a lot easier scumbag - just pay up.

I didn't want to post it in the forum, but looks like he owns mistarags.com. A simple domain search pulls up his address and phone number. I e-mailed it to Magnum Pi. Bad deal guys. I'm hoping you get your money back.

Appalling. If you pay PayPal with your credit card, you can dispute the payment TO THEM through your card issuer, and then dispute the PayPal charge. No way for you to lose the cash.

I was similarly notified by PayPal. The money came from my bank account so I don't have a second line of defense. I had found our friend's web site early on, but don't have his complete address or phone number. I suspect he would not be too hard to find around his neck of the woods, unless he is traveling.... I will be glad to join forces in talking with his local law, Magnum -- or, if you do, be sure to mention that he scammed me as well.

I was just wondering what thread that was...

Until its resolved its best to keep this bumped...at least the loser won't be back ripping off more prey.

PayPal...the crook-dewd must have emptied the cash out and there's no money for PayPal to confiscate?

"N. Ragsdale Street." Right...! Still, thanks. We'll see where this might lead.

That's what I said, if you look it up on google maps, it's real....

Damn guys, sorry to read this. I was just browsing for used gear, I think I'll hold off now. I think if you fight it hard enough, paypal should refund you both. Because at the very least in order for him to have an account, last I checked I think they have to have a CC of yours on file or bank account. They should still have his account info and be able to withdraw the funds from his bank or CC. Even if not Paypal is responsible for protecting it's members, I would definitely fight with them until the matter is handled.

Sorry to hear that you fellas got ripped off. In the future when using paypal, ALWAYS pay with a credit card. That way, you have options if some shite happens...

What a stroke, way to ruin it for everybody. I love selling stuff on here because I know it gets a good home to a fellow musician, but this is just rediculous on an MXL no less. Sorry, I've seen two of these threads where someone has gotten screwed and even the goodguys list didn't help. If someone visits mista douchebag, please send pictures of the aftermath.
