king of pain............. I couldn't fined any thing once I got there any thing in particular I should have done?
Thanks ----MoreSound

I just came back from MXL - these guys are GREAT. They looked it over and immediately owned the problem. It looks like somehow or another it was shooting straight voltage from the power supply through the mic cable. YIKES!

So, to make it up to me, they
1) Gave me a Genesis in exchange for the 960
2) Called Summit to arrange for them to fix my preamp
3) Are currently looking for a suitable replacement for my sound card.

Roy, Jim and Hank have been champs on this situation. The service they showed me today has made me a big, big fan of MXL.

I may not be able to record til I get the soundcard, but I feel like I can sleep a little tonight!

BIG THUMBS UP, MXL !!!

Did you do this by e-mail/phone/or in person?
It sounds like in person where abouts do you live to talk directly to MXL?

Good result! I can only say it's possibly because if the MXL unit was at fault, it was more cost effective to replace your gear than face the possible bad rap. I find good business people put their customers first.

Congrats!

I'm in Los Angeles, so are MXL, they saw the thread I wrote here and on gearslutz and told me to contact them, so I called and they invited me down. Great guys - very friendly and really do want to make their customers happy.

MXL - Genesis,
I got that same mic for my home studio check out some crazy pics I took on my myspace. ( www.citydumprecords.com ). I have been very satisfied so far with the mic not one complaint. I dont even have mine hooked up to a pre-amp I hooked it right into my mbox pro 2. Check out the sound on my myspace all of those recordings are with the genesis going into a dbl 166xl then into a mobox 2 pro. I just bout a safe sound P1 but have not posted any songs with that hooked in my chain yet.

That's pretty huge. I believe customer service like this is even more important that defect prevention. Seriously, defects will occur, but a company willing to step up like this is outstanding. Once upon a time, Mackie was like this too.

I never thought I'd consider MXL equipment (I'm lucky enough to have a Neumann), but this kind of anecdote may have me considering them in the future.

looks like a MXL representative hacked into his account!!! :(
