Ok,

So I use NERO to burn CDs. Is it possible to burn an mp3 on a cd and then go back on the SAME CD and burn more data (another mp3 or wav file) on the same CD? Can I do it with NERO or is there another proggy?

Thanks

hrm, well like i burn 1 song (mp3) to a cd...take it to my other computer..load it on it and then i want to REUSE the CD to burn more on it...can this happen?

Have 1 cd to be my record and transfer cd?

you need a cdrw and you need to leave the burn session open. if you don't know what this means, look it up. you will be able to add files until the cdrw is full but you won't be able to listen to it on cd player.

I dont care about listening to it on a cd player. This is just for the purposes of transfering files from my computer machine (that is not online or my network) to this computer I am on now (which is on the network and allows me to post my files online).

Maybe eventually I should just get the wireless network going and do it that way...but for now I dont want to stretch a long cat5 cable to the studio closet :D

It's a hell of a lot better than filling your local garbage dump with disposable CD-R/RW drink coasters that will probably still be there long after your children die of natural causes.

Ditto.........

You can use CD-Rs with Nero. Just setup a Multi-session disc session. Add files. Burn. Then when you want to add more files (or even updated version of the original file(s)), you need to open up the original session, add your file(s) and burn again.
It's been awhile since I've done this, but it should work.

for £40 I purchased a 1Gb memory stick which connects to my USB connection.

Quicker than burning a CD

Use it again and again

More environmentally friendly (as far as I'm aware)

Don't need specialist software, just drag and drop the files using windows explorer...

You can get smaller ones which would do for little MP3 files for less than $20... and some even let you play those MP3's within the unit.

One thing about not closing a disk after a burn though is that unless your other CD drive is the same brand/model, most likely, it will not read the un-closed disk. The same burner will read it just fine, but usually other CD drives will not UNTIL you close the disk.

The USB memory stick idea is by and far the best solution. Faster, more reliable, more flexible, and better on the environment! :)

I have not heard of this memory stick...going to do some research on it, thanks ;)

When you're using Nero and you have a CD-RW in the drive, a box that says "allow files to be added later (multisession disc)" will become checkable. Just check that box before you burn it and you're good to go.

Perhaps this if off-topic, but has anybody ever heard of a recycling program for old disks? I've got a bunch that I've held off throwing away for just this reason, but I'd love to be shed of them in a responsible way...

Thanks beagle.

However after some further research, I think I am going to get some USB 2.0 Flash Drives (which I am just now learning about lol)...They seem sweet!
