If you use your MR-8 with your computer what software do you use (multi-track and mastering)? I'm looking for the cheapest.

How good are the effects and mastering capabilities on the MR-8?

The effects and mastering on the MR-8 are minimal. As someone stated, they are basically variations on EQ and compression assigned to a couple preset buttons. The MR-8 shines in its ability to share files with a computer, so any PC software will fill in the gaps when it comes to mastering. Check out n-Track (www.fasoft.com) - at $45, it has the power of apps that cost ten times as much. Also CooEdit Pro and Cakewalk ClubTracks are popular with MR-8 users.

As stated above Cakewalk Clubtracks, cheap and really handy, unless you're running XP, of course!

I run XP. Does anyone know if N-Tracks works well with it. Maybe I should just download the demo and try it out.

The n-Track demo is pretty complete, so it'll give you a good idea if it's going to work for your needs.
