It cold be that extended mode is your culprit. Have you recorded anything in normal mode?

I haven't used extended, but recall someone else saying it sounds fine. This sounds like a case of your PC software not handling 22KHz wavs properly. I had very similar problems with the Korg, that also used a sample rate other than 44.1KHz

Does everything sound OK on the MR-8, and it's just the PC and CD that sound bad?

I think its basically just the cd/pc...bceause it sounds pretty good w/ headphones.....i also change it to 44.1hz after i put it on the PC in a wav editing program, gets the highs of the High Hats louder, sounds a lil better.....but still, id try normal mode, but it doenst give me NEARLY enough time...

What software are you using on the PC for playback and CD burning? It really sounds like the software is having trouble with the sample rate.

With the Korg, I tried direct conversion to 44Khz, and it was awful - then I used 'resample' in Sound Forge XP and it was much better.

well i use winamp for playback, and i made it 44.1khz or w/e in Creative Mixer because it came wiht my sound card, and I use Ahead Nero to put on Cd.

hi,
When you get this worked: look out hard drive !

When 1 GB cards get cheap in the future (they make them out of basically sand i think), I read that the mr-8 could support up to 2GB on FAT16:
thats over 6 hours of track minutes and then doubled by this !

well its nice dreaming,
