we don't need rest!!
I'm sure a subject that has been covered, but I'd like to hear what peoples current choices are for converting .wav files to mp3's. I've been using the blade encoder, and have front blade, but for the life of me, have been unable to successfully change the bit rate, and it defaults to 128kbps....which I'm not really fond of the sound at that bitrate.

In the past I used AudioCatalyst but the ones I've posted lately were done in SoundForge 5. I'm interested as to what folks think is the best and why, too.

been using WAV2MP3 (FREE) .. until the very latest version, it supported many sample rates.. now it's been crippled. If you can get your hands on an older version you're all set.

Now .. i just got Steinberg Wavelabs! It can do all the standard bit rates and has support for variable bit rate. Wavelabs rocks.

Lame encoder is excellent and its FREE. It supports many different bitrates and such. You can get it from download.com.

bladenc

blade enc..... came with N-Track - but i downloaded a stand alone version (opens a dos window to run...) - it goes a lot faster when n-track isn't involved.

whoa...I've got wavelab too... never used the "save as special" .. saved a mp3 at 192...what a difference. Now I gotta go back and replace all my mp3's (slaps forehead after all this)...

what a bbs this place is.:)

too funny Chris. too funny.
Well now that you can save at 160+ ... I can't wait to listen to your stuff again. Not that it sounded bad or anything .. but you know.

I used to use the free version of Music Match, but I went and bought it because I liked it so much. I don't rip anything over 128 because a lot of people who don't have high speed will be reluctant to wait 30 minutes to hear one of my stupid songs. Your stuff always sounds good to me "mix."

my 2 "senseless."

later.

P.S. Maybe this should be brought up somewhere else, but why do people like "No where radio" over "Mp3.com.?" Just curious because I like the way "mp3.com" is set up and I haven't had any problems with it. AND I even got to put a picture of my ugly face up there for free!
