Moving reaper onto new laptop

I've had reaper for 3 years now, never updated as I'm not at all techy and quite happy with what it does. My old laptop is now so slow that I'm considering buying a new one. Is it possible to transfer my existing version onto new laptop? I don't really begrudge paying for a new license but would prefer to keep this version.

All the old Reaper versions right back to version 0.2 are still available to download. If you want to keep your existing licence you can just download the latest version that your licence supports (which is one major version after the one that you licenced) so, if you bought a licence for version 4, the licence would also cover you up to version 5.97. If your licence is only 3 years old then you can probably just install the latest version and use the same licence with it.

If you want to keep all your settings then you will need to transfer your Reaper settings by clicking on the Export Configuration button in the General Reaper Preferences dialogue box and then importing them into the new installation.
 
If you still have the installation file, you can pop that onto a USB stick, then install Reaper onto the new fevice from that. YOu also need to look for your Reaper licence file and copy that across as well.
 
McMac, moving Reaper to a new system is so easy. Install whatever version you have license for (if in the last 3 years, then you can probably use either 5.x or 6.x.

Your license file is a text file with an RK extension. It should be here:

reaper License.webp

Just copy that file to your new computer and tell Reaper to use that file for your license. Make sure you copy any VSTs over and point to them as well, if you have any that are not the stock Rea or JS plugins.

You can migrate your license and all your settings
On Windows:
Open a file browser on the old computer.
Type "C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME HERE\AppData\Roaming\" into the bar
Copy the REAPER folder to a thumb drive (or whatever)
Pop it into the new computer and put it in the same place
Install Reaper from the website.
