I've got $500 to spend on a new interface and I'm leaning toward the Motu 8pre. But I have some questions.
My pc is a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ based Windows Vista machine with 2 gig of ram
I use Sonar PE 6
I have a 1394 (firewire) input
I can mix up to 24 tracks on my setup before I start running into problems with my PCU usage. I can go higher track counts with less plugins and effects.
Now the questions:
Will I see any issues recording 8 tracks simultaneously (dropouts etc.) with this setup?
I currently us a M-Audio 192 Audiophile interface (PCI). Will I still be able to use it once I hook up a firewire interface? I'd like to do up to 10 tracks using both interfaces if I can (for drums) but don't know if that will be possible.
Is the 8Pre the right choice for around $500????
thanks in advance for any advice
