More relay problems with Tascam 48... broken again

Functionally obsessed.
Hey folks,

I'm very, very concerned. Five more relays broke in my 48. I replaced all eight of the relays for -10dB operation and then the deck sat for a week... now it's broken again?!?

Output on channels 1-3 are fine, but 4-8 aren't putting out anything but a VERY, very faint signal.

Why would this happen? If something is causing these relays to fail, I'd REALLY like to find out what.

This is depressing. It's been a constant struggle to keep everything working and now it seems like I just can't win. What in the world is going on?!??!?

Okay, I'll pray to the Analog gods and hope for the best.

Update: I have a couple of extra relays (I ordered 10 in case something went wrong). I replaced K003 on channel 4's amp card and now all eight channels are working again.

I just don't know how long it will continue to work, though. Do these relays have a high failure percentage (i.e., 1% of relays that leave the factory will be DOA) or something?

Darn. Something does not sound right. Why would they fail so quickly. It leads me to believe something else may be causing them to fail or operate improperly. Maybe there is a power supply problem? I really do not know where to start, but I would start there. Do you have an extender card for the 48? This allows the card to be plugged in yet extended enough to work on it. I would like to know how much voltage those relays are getting...:(

Also, have you cleaned all the switches and contacts? Maybe there is a switching problem, just throwing it out there....

When I pulled the card, just after turning the deck off, K003 felt very hot. I didn't burn myself but it seemed suspicious. I'm wondering if maybe these relays have a low temperature tolerance?

I don't have an extender card. I should look for one, perhaps.

Hmmm. Does the printing on the relays match the part number? I Wonder if they are the wrong voltage and the coils are burning out....it should be 24v I believe.

Proper part : HE721a2400

There is also a 12v version HE721a1200
