Monitors under $500

hey! i am upgrading to speakers that are actually meant for mixing and i can only spend around $500 and i need some ideas of the best available in that price range. could anyone give me some ideas. anything good over $250. i see ms10's
on ebay for around $500. are those my best bet?
also i have an interest in tower monitors to increase the distance between me and my music as opposed to having the monitors sitting right in front of me on my desk. are there any good tower monitors/speakers that are good for mixing that may be in my price range?

KRK RP 8's are a good choice

I second the KRK's. I have the Ro5's, love them, and the 8's are even cooler. Since you can afford the better, that's where I would go.

M-Audio Bx8a

I have a pair of the Bx8a and learned them in a few weeks. They seem fairly flat across the frequency spectrum and they do not change when turned up. And, they're balanced.

Plus, you can also get a pair of monitor stands for that price. I walked out of GC with a pair of Bx8a and stands for under $400.
