babbling about monitors

I've got PS6s. The $1000 ones are the ASP6 from the Studio Precision series. The TR (Tuned Reference) series replaced the PS (Project Studio) series, and the TR6 is $400, so that's about what mine were new.
well, i have your shopping story beat then.
i got some JBL control 5's "plus" for about $125 pair...their like $500-600 new.
according to ebay their worth about $125!!
what is a good speaker?? Translation of Mixes? as a tool analogy...a well built hammer?..or a hammer that just gets the job done, no big deal.
the monitor doesn't guarentee you anything, it helps, like having a hammer that is functional....if you hammered all day long (pro) you would probably want a really nice hammer.
but if your only gonna hammer a couple weekends a month you don't need a pro-line hammer and a Wharfedale hammer is probably alright then.
i don't even know what good is most the time.
and i realize really don't have mixing down at all, the skills part
...its way too much....... hit n' miss,
more of the "miss!
i was reading Martin said before Revolver, almost all the albums were recorded like a production line, mics and tone settings on guitars all the same, same format...probably few changes in Pans, EQ etc...
i like that idea at times, the consistency. the early Beatbrother records, not that the creativity of Pepper was its own.
sorry for babbling..too much coffee.
