Go forth and look herein and verily you will find many comments about monitors. Your ears will be the best judge. So, make sure you are clear on the return policy if you can't visit the store and listen.

It would be a drag returning monitors; mucho shipping $$$$.

I have the KRK ST8s==nice boxes and an 8 inch woofer. I'm sure the Events will be high quality too. Again, depends on your needs and your ears.

But, putteth no apple on the salesperson's head before you string your wallet bow and fire.

Happy Halloween  :p :D

I can see your panties.

FWIW, after listening to many different powered monitors that Guitar Center had to offer, I eventually bought the KRK RP8s.

These monitors have great clarity. I am very happy with them (caveat: most people feel compelled to justify their purchases and I may be doing that. ;) )

They had a great sale too: a pair for under $500 and no payments for a year. Who could resist?

I have the old passive KRK Rokits. I took them into the GC and compared them to the KRK V8, V6, ST8, ST6 and then the various Events and the Yamahas. To my ears the KRK V6 gave the most clear and neutral sound in this particular listening environment. The stereo imaging of the Event PS monitors had a wider sweet spot but I didn't like the woofy sound of the low end.

The room you are monitoring in will play a big part in what monitors you should use.

Since you have a poweramp, why not ebay for some older KRK passives. They can usually be had for about $100 a pair and will have plenty of life left.
