How far can I run a mouse, keyboard, and monitor cable? My home computer is upstairs, but I would also like to be able to control it from the studio in the basement. Are long runs like this acceptable?

I've not read any specifics on degredation of signal for PS/2, USB and VGA cable, but I can say with 100% accuracy that each of these on a 50 ft run are the same as standard cables. We use a computer at work and the actual PC is in the back of the office and the monitor, keyboard and mouse for it are 40+ feet away and work just fine.

Run a VGA and get a good wireless keyboard and mouse.

unfortunately, wireless keys/mouse don't go that far. The Bluetooth based Apple ones go 30 feet.

if your studio is in the basment and your pc is in your bed room how are you recording now? do you have two PCs? if so you can network them and use remote desktop. or any other remote app.

I'd venture to say that if he had the option to use two PCs he wouldn't need the one in the bedroom anymore?
