Ok, I feel really dumb having to ask this question but here it goes.

I want to buy a pair of Active monitors (probably the Behringer 2301A Truths), but I honestly have no idea where to connect them to the computer (which I will be using to mix). Do I need some special component to connect them to first, and then connect that component to the computer? I have never had real monitors and have always had to put my finished mixes in every enviroment to make sure they sound good ( cars, home surround, headphones etc.) Any help with this would be much appreciated.

I know people who hook them directly to their audio interface...

I wouldn't on a bet, but that's me.

You really should (IMO) have some sort of attenuator between the interface and the amplifiers (or in your case, the amplified monitors).

SMPro makes a disturbingly cheap passive box (under $100) with basic routing features.

Well how you Connect the Monitors would depend on your Recording set up.....

I personally Have my Monitors Plugged into Outputs 1 & 2 of my Delta 44 sound card and I have Outputs 3 and 4 going into a Headphone amp with 4 outputs so other Instruments can hear the mix while Tracking without any Bleading into other Tracks....

Cheers

My setup is only the computer itself right now. I record onto a Yamaha AW16G and export all the files to computer . I don't have a sound card on my computer because I don't record to it, but I am thinking about getting a Firepod. Would plugging monitors into the Firepod do anything?
