Can someone recommend me low budget monitors(under $300) for starters to listen to classical music(definitely not rock!). Due to the home environment, I will be listening mostly at a low volume level.
Thanks a lot.

Take a look at the Roland DS-5.

I bought the previous version of this monitor, the DS-30A, for my wife as a birthday present. It's what we use for our stereo system in the living room, and it sounds very nice in that application. My wife listens to music like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, movie soundtracks, R&B, and I listen to classical. So the monitors have gotten a good workout on a bunch of different styles and are pleasant to listen to. Because of their small size the low end doesn't thump you in the chest, but it sounds like you don't want that anyway.

Thanks .....Sounds like you consider these almost like home stereo speakers, although I do not know the difference between the two. Do you know any review that tells me what to look for in monitors speakers such as what input I must have, the amplification etc?

did read in an comparison that the samson rubicon´s are good or better then the rest in the price range for this music in an german magazin ( pc&music 06/2005 ).
