you'll need to contact the company who produced the song in question. For example, if the artist recorded under Sony...you'll need to find the contact info for Sony Music and ask them.
Price wise...IF they let you use it, it's probably going to be more than you can afford depending on who the artist is. Then they'll want to know exactly what you plan on using the song for, where it's going to be played, etc....and of course they'll want a piece of any profit you make. But I'm guessing it will be several thousand dollars, minimum....assuming this is a popular song with a popular label.

And you probably don't want to call them up unless you know exact terms of what you need, names, numbers, etc. If you don't know that stuff they probably won't take you seriously.

But again, this is all IF they agree to give you just the vocal track. Being an individual artist, I doubt they will.

If you just want to remix, you'll have better luck looking around for remix contests - I think acidplanet.com has one monthly. Unfortunately, the system isn't setup so that you can remix whatever you want. Unless, of course, you're already really succesful, but to get there, you'll have to work with whatever's available.

i think i ll just drop my dream for remixes. i guess i gotta get in to the field basically. i started makin beats like trance and kind of some related stuff. i think i have to collaborate with someone who has the fresh vocals to suite it and start a fresh song and not re-mixing. and according to you guys i really gotta make some bucks to get the remix stuff as a reality. anyways im in search of good lyrics and a fresh sound from now on.. thanx guys jus keep in touch.

FYI

Most everything (singles) released on vinyl will have an accapella version of the track on the B side. Usually. :D

well i ve entered the remix arena in the AP. its just a great place for getiin vocals for reixes. thanx alot Lfo for the info. jus learnin new stuff on this that s all. but the trouble is noone is leavin a comment on my songs .. ;-). thanx to thane1200 too for the info.
