modding my Studio Projects T3

Hi,

I am planning to mod my T3 by replacing the tube.

So, I briefly searched some threads and looked into some online tube sellers, but I'm a bit confused. There are NOS RCA 6072, NOS GE 6072, Black Plate, Triple MICA, MIC SPACER..etc..etc

so which ones are recommended for my T3? Any reliable online store to recommend too?

I'm sure the tube swap project will not make my T3 into a Neumann, but I am hoping to give it a new sound.

Meanwhile, another OT request is, once I've successfully swapped out the tubes in my T3, I might want to attempt tubes swapping on my dbx 386 mic pre too. Any recommendation for what to look out for? what tubes to use? and any further readings recommendation?

I used the NOS GE 6072 5 Star Blackplate tube. When it arrived and I plugged it in, there was background noise with the mic. The guys on this board told me to remove the tube, clean the contacts with WD40, and try again. Worked great for me.

Why did you mod in the first place? How would you describe the improvement? I have a T3 that I like a lot but would mod for a major upgrade.
