That is Cool!

I also have a 388 and a fostex 3070! :):listeningmusic:

1. I know from similar models, that I have grown up with. that the sound is always the same from those mics!, the tape player is functioning on this model, I were trying to get another one but bought this one instead,, this project is for the sake of nostalgia!
I was thinking a while ago that maybe the whooshing sound is the sound of the AGC boosting background noise up to auduble levels,... or does the Volume control work as level control during recording? (It doesn't appear that way from the schematic, but I'm obviously no expert).
:spank::eek:;)

You got it the volume and tone controls only affect playback. Seems to have AGC for recording.

Thank you.

That's basically how I saw it in my non-expert view.
:spank::eek:;)

The volume level controls the REC level, there is a VU meter aswell showing the REC level from the internal mics.

If you listen to the wav file you hear the volume increase and decrease in the beginning and in the end, that´s me turning the volume knob durin recording!

I ordered some r20 batteries from a special site (they really expensive here in Sweden) and they will arrive on monday,, I will try the boombox on batteries before I do any mods,,
I´ll let you know how it turns out! I will see if I have the time to get a DIN cable aswell,, they´re at $15,, Thanks again for your collaboration!

Put the boom box in another room. Mic the speakers with a small diaphragm condenser mic. Run that into your DAW. See if that doesn't work. Either that or order a cassette to USB box online. I have that plus a VHS and DVD player to USB. Record on the boombox and transfer the music to your DAW. (or computer; whatever.) The units are about 90-100 dollars online. Worth every dime.

Thanks for your kind advice!:thumbs up:But what I want to do is to try to capture the sound of the internal mics on the boombox without recording to tape, with as little noise as possible from the motors! :) A little project of mine! :drunk:
