I don't know if others do this, but I do "studies" of songs before I launch into "full production" just to get a feel for what I'm going to eventually do.

I've got TONS of said studies I've done over the years, but a lot of them have been lost to the ages and format changes.

This Christmas I received a cassette deck that allows me to transfer my old cassettes direct to digital into my PC through USB, so I've been having a blast converting stuff over. I've not had a tape deck for over 10 years now.

Along the way, I've uncovered some of my old studies.

I uploaded seven prototypes to my website for folks here that already have joined to log into and hear/download. They're in the "Unreleased Works" section available from the members menu on the site.

Anyways, for those that might be interested, here's one. I've not launched into full production on it ... but you'll get a sense of what it might eventually sound like from the mock up above.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

Best,

Since this is a sketch I'm not going to comment the production part.

I would like to hear this song live played by a complete band. I think that it could be a good song to play live.

Also, I do that too, I like to sketch everything before working harder on it. I guess this is applicable to everything besides music.

Good job :)

This def. sounds like it'd be cool live - def. worth completing too.
Sketches - I sometimes do them BUT only to get structure, tempo & rhythm sorted after which the actual recording process becomes more ad hoc & experimental.

Vox and guitars are outstanding. The synth part sounds a little carnival-ish at times, I think it may be due to too much modulation going on. I don't know much about synths so I don't know. I'd also turn down the synth levels a bit. I love keyboards, but your guitar work excels way beyond the main synth repeating riff and should stand out, or else it just sounds like the same thing over and over. Also maybe try switching up the drums a little or making the beat a little more interesting. But overall I really enjoy this song!
