Mk219?????? Whatcha Think???

i've recently bout the oktava mk219 from guitarcenter...now heres my question...i've heard that its really not that great, but from what i've heard, when jus messing around n recording a full band with the mic in the middle, it picked up the drums pretty damn good to me(i will be using it as overheads and prbly for acoustics and vocals). i'm confused if i should keep this mic, and buy another one for stereo, or go back and get the mk012. its $30 more....is it really worth it? keep in mind that my ears arent the best. so will i definitely hear a big difference if i get it?

also please give me the highs and lows of the two mics. thanks

the mk219 has things that it can do well. it's not a versatile mic but i've found it works in different situations.

I got an MK-219 too. At GC these were $29. WAAY better than an SM57 for that price.

$29 at GC last weekend on sale. It was "GCs $29 dollar blowout sale" I kid you not..... I got three good ones for no reason at all..

Probably true, it is not the first time the idiots at my GC have given me a deal (without them knowing it).

Why are there a million rehashed mk219 threads all of the sudden? Isn't one enough. The mk219 was discontinued because the housing made it ring and sound like shit. The 319 has the same guts and a different housing. Most people think it sounds better. Get the 319.
