ok first off.................the mackies are not.......designed to sit horizontaly. Read the specs and it will tell you this. Actually im looking at it now in my hand. If you do have to go horizontal.....the woofers are to be inward from what im reading. The other thing is.......i can't back up when my bed is about 2 inches from where i sit hahaha im telling u, im as good as i can get for my situation.........i know whats proper and for now i'll just have to make due, u know? : )

sorry, my bad.

when raydio said your speakers were "on the sides" I thought he meant you had them horizontal. I guess what he meant was they were farther "to the side" (as in farther apart) than his.

oops. never mind...:(

Thanks for listening guys. I peeped zallen's setup and I see that yours monitors are about the same distance from your ears, as mine are to my ears. Only difference is that my monitors are pointed in front of me and not on the sides like yours. Maybe I should rearrange my room so that I can have mine kind of on the sides also. I see that all of us have live rooms and need some sort of material to hear our low ends better. If you have any more info on the mouse pad idea, let me know and I'll pick some up. (If it actually works, lol). Thanks again guys.

P.S.--------- Whats an RTA?

This question is actually for Zallen, but from the picture it looks like they are at 90 degrees from each other, with the center point over the keyboard.(?) Does that make for a rather wide placement? Another words, are you setting behind where they cross?
Thanks.
Wayne

acousticians far wiser than me have always told me that setting up in a corner of a room is much worse option than along a flat wall. it's seductive to use that corner-style worksation furniture for space reasons, and maybe zallen has no choice.

but from a purely acoustical point of view, it should be avoided if possible.

true...........but when i get my mansion built and my 10 car garage finished i should'nt have that problem anymore................lol ya right.

no im putting myself right in the x point :

and that's where all of the magic takes place.

maybe another idea:
i use those 'spikes' like they use for hi-end hifi-speakers. that keeps the bass response pretty tidy!
if needed i can post a picture.

okido...
here's my 2 eurocents ...

spikes ...

btw: the 'better' hifi-stores have 'm.
you don't need four per monitor, 'cause they might go rattling.
three does the trick!
also: see the picture for the close-up!
