Mixer issues - need help

I just got a Roland CM-30 PA/monitor speaker for xmas with the idea of doing small acoustic solo performances with it. I also got a Behringer 1002fx mixer to use with it for effects and eq etc. The problem is, that when I plug straight into the CM-30, its virtually noise-free, but adding the mixer into the chain adds a fair amount of hiss noise. Is this normal? I read plenty of reviews on this mixer because I was skeptical about Behringer, but all are very favourable and say that it is relatively noise-free. Do I have a defect, or is some noise to be expected?

Any advice to make it better?

Thanks
Ryan

One of the noisiest mixers I've ever seen (heard).

If you're talking about just the effects buss (which is far and away, one of the most horrifically noisy audio circuits ever developed in all the time I've been stationed on this planet), push the front end and drop the back.

I'd never suggest to anyone to ever overdrive and input circuit. Ever. Except for that board.

Side note: Most people who give big props to Behringer (and so many other extremely-budget-friendly mass-produced pieces of 'gear') either haven't used anything else or haven't honed their listening skills. I'm not saying it all sucks - But to get the steady stream of 9's and 10's like I see on some pieces that are just garbage from the start - It's bizarre.

Back on topic - That mixer is noisy. The effects buss is INCREDIBLY noisy. If you're hearing the noise when the effects buss is in the mix, then go to my previous suggestion. That'll work.
