Mixer buss s/u for recording

Ok, what i am looking to do is send say 8 channels to say group 1&2 panned appropriately. Then send the pair (group 1&2) to one channel of my pod. The question is... will a 1/4 TRS- dual 1/4 TS insert cable work for this?

Sending any stereo bus or track into one channel of any processor will make it into - at best - a phase coherent mono feed and at worst a phasey mess.

If you want to send some of, let's say, a drum mix to your pod a much better way would be to dedicate an open aux send to it and bring back the outs of the Pod to the bus in question.
