Just setting up to record piano & vocals in my home.

P4-3.2GHz
1G Ram
will be getting new dedicated SATA HD
Sound card-OnBoard JUNK
Nuendo/Cubase/old CakeWalk
Mics-looking for Shure M57/M58
Moniters-PolkAudio
Piano-7'Grand

After reading a few threads I crossed Behringer off my list, after reading a few more, I crossed USB mixers off my list.
Was looking at Alesis 1622, Soundcraft Live 16ch, Fostex 450, Samson MPL-1204, Yamaha 01X...With mLAN
(the $200. Mackie CR1604 was gone before I read the ad)
As these were all used and fairly close in price how would you rate them?
The Yamaha mLAN being slightly more expenceve, but would need no interface.

Thanks

Are you sure its a mixer you need, and not a soundcard with 3 or 4 input? And a preamp.

You will be better off with an audio interface with multiple inputs and outputs.

I had thought about going with a good soundcard with a few inputs, but that's limiting.
Also for the price of a GOOD SC I can buy a used mixer with FireWire or mLAN out.
I was toying with maybe installing a Motu. I think I know where I can get a Motu2408
for about $475. Sooo I thought I would get your informed opinion on these inexpensive mixers and use that to make a decision

Thanks

The point is you do not need the mixer in the recording chain. Unless of course you want it for live mixing.

Ssscientist:
Good eye!
The MOTU 10x14 does look real nice!
Thanx

BadAE:
I understand your point.
I was just hoping someone could tell me something about the mixers.
