Mix My Song!!!

  • Thread starter Thread starter RAMI

The final winners and runner-ups will be finalized the end of this week or the week after. Like I posted before, the judges have life things to tend to also, and listening to 16 mixes properly is not a quickie task. This listening part of the contest, has been for the purpose of deducing to a lower number of choices. It has been a tough judging for that too!! We are giving it our best to listen to each mix several times and then some more! I am anxious myself, but it is still a ways off for the final decision.

I will post the preliminary winners sometime tomarrow hopefully.

Love ya all,
True :)

I know you guys are anxious, I know we are a bit behind...but almost ready for the prefinal announcements. Thanks for your patience. :)

can I mix it and then shove it up your ass for ya?
I bet you will get some nice bass tones with that method.
Why don't you mix it and shove it up your own ass and then post a clip? I'm sure with you being an expert on shoving things up your ass that it would sound much better.

Whatever happened to your hot stuff

"Never wrestle with a pig. Because you both get dirty...but the pig likes it."

"Fuck off."

Hahaha, that, my friend, is priceless! ;)

Something tells me that his ass is more like the size of a blowhole. Which, btw, is not normal!

Can I stick my weiner up your ass? You will feel good all over, I promise.

Are the tracks still available from somewhere to download them? I really want to have a go at this myself :)

You know, I hate this part of the mix-off.... the semi-finals of contestants.

I am speaking for the other judges as well, at the moment. After the finals, they will be sharing with you guys too I hope. They may prefer to remain anomynous and have me post something. That is there preference. Me....it is obvious I have chose NOT to be anomynous. So if I find egg and toilet paper on my PC, Keys and Monitors.....I know why!!! :D

I just want to say, it was very difficult choosing. You all did fine jobs of mixing Rami's song. There's not really any Major problems in the mixes. Nothing that a little more listening and tweaking could fix. Some of them sounded very close to another. Some very different. It was good for me to do this. I really listened and took my listening power to the edge....as did the other judges. A whole lot of time went into the listening of the prelimanaries. Listening over and over again. Wanting to be fair and give every aspect of the mix attention. These mixes may only have a tad issue somewhere....but we had to choose. That is what a contest is. Choosing only a few, even if many could win. I am sure we will have some wonder why we chose one over the other. Well, it just had to be that way. It doesn't mean we think the rest of you had bad mixes. Maybe just some were a bit more polishes than others. Some have more experience than others. Maybe you have experience, but there was an area in the mix, you just couldn't seem to get right at the moment. Most importantly, remember everyone has their own perspective of what they want to hear in a mix.

Actually, some were just as polished as others, but we couldn't pick everyone. I know I am rambling, but I want to stress to ya guys, just how hard this was for us judges. You are all winners as far as I and the other judges are concerned!!

Here are the finalist in each category. You may observe less mixes in number than supposed to be there. That is because some of these mixes were voted on by more than one judge. You may also notice a mix in more than one category. In the finals though, a non-radio-ready mix cannot win the radio-ready mix also. However, a non-radio or radio-ready can win the imaginative catergory also.

We are taking a week break and then will listen again to these. The finalist will come from these and then the winners from the finalist.

Hey, American Idiot takes longer than this!! :p

I have not put names with these, because they are to still remain as anomynous as possible until the final. You all know your own mixes. Thanks guys. :) :) :) :) :) We love you guys!!!

I am just curious.... when did there become a seperation between radio ready and non radio ready, and how is it that they differ? I purposely left mine as a standard mix that was ready to be sent out for mastering rather than doing it myself.

Thanks so far, true. Looking at the participants left, there's clearly a tendency towards the later mixes. So, what's that tell us? Take your time and the mix will be better. Or the first participants just had enough time to "improve" their mixes? Hmm. :D

Xstatic. By "radio-ready", it doesn't mean mastered and totally polished. The radio-ready is really the overall best mix. The only reason I put "radio-ready" and "non radio-ready", is because I still wanted to reward someone if they had a good mix, but maybe not the gear or studio experience to get it as loud and polished as they like. So it's not really a case of adding a "radio-ready" catagory, it's more a case of adding a second prize (non-radio ready).

True, that's great stuff. this is getting exciting. I haven't gone to see which number goes with which name yet, so I'm as curious as everyone else. I'll post True's post on my site, and later today I'll put names with the numbers if you guys want me to.

Thanks Rami, we have tried to be as fair as possible in the judging process.

Exciting yes!!

It is sooooo hard to choose though!!!!

Welp, I'd just like to give everyone some props...the judges for taking time to do this, everyone whom mixed it...I personally have learned quite a bit already, and most importantly RAMI for writing a great tune. It is a well thought out song, it's catchy, and keeps the listener engaged... the tracks were laid down very well too... eventhough I have listened and relistened, scrutinized the song over and over, I still really like this tune.

It's great to be able to listen to all the mixes, and hear what ya like and don't like or what you would do differently...what you would keep, what you would throw out..etc... it's an education in itself, this is an invalueable resource....

I would like to make one suggestion however, and I think it would behoove all of us and would leave RAMI in the end as the final winner.

After this is all said and done, I would love to see everyone involved take their time, and collaborate by leaving suggestions of what they hear about the winning mix, and what needs to be tweaked, and leave RAMI w one final mastered track.
I'm sure we all hear stuff in our mixes that are out there being judged that we would change or tweak that we can hear now that we didn't hear or didnt' have the time to tweak before the deadline...It'd be nice to take this 'all the way' and see it thru till the end.
