Mix My Song!!!

  • Thread starter Thread starter RAMI
  • Start date Start date
Kind of like group therapy, we should all sit around in our cyber circle and dump out all of our feelings/tracks for all to hear, then we get support from each other and walk home with a lesson learned: dont let Konrad mix your song!

ps. im ganna start trying to mix others for the practice of mixing after i read this threat. run for your life!

As far as the mixing goes, I like to try with other peoples stuff, to see what they have for raw tracks, as compared to what I have.....and to see what I might do with it myself. The contest doesn't really mean anything to me, as I could always buy more gear if I wanted to. But getting a bunch of people working on the same tune, that makes it fun. Actually, just interacting with people here, who seem to enjoy music, is what is really fun to me. I have tons of friends, but few are even remotely interested in music. Here, the common bond is music, and I really enjoy that. BS'ing with people about music, and how to do stuff is really fun for me.... :D

Listened to the latest entries...
Bentrabbit and Xstatic's versions sound both good to mee, although I would have made them louder, but that's just a matter of taste. Perhaps mine is just too loud.
Reggie, it is quite wide and crisp indeed, I wouldn't know how to achieve that without making it harsh as sandpaper. Although I must say the snare sounds a bit odd, has a whole other sound than the 'source' files, kinda old-skool.

Nice outro touch S.Clause.... :D
Thanks, I'm still having second thoughts whether to ommit it or not though , I'll wait and see.

The experience I get is the prize...

That and "Le smokealarm" :D

Hey guys, gonna give this a shot now without listening to anyone elses :D

Cool Snake man. You may be the last one in, then we'll decide how to judge it.

Vote for Reggie; RAMI 2006 Mixoff

I gotta be honest...I'm in it for the prizes. I doubt I would spend all that time downloading tracks if there wasn't a carrot in front of my head. And yeah, I could buy gear if I need it I guess (if I had munny); but it is more fun to win a competition AND get free gear (I'll even pay shipping!). Daddy needs him a MIDI controller......or maybe that mic......So.......

<whoring> VOTE 4 REGGIE!!!
2006 RAMI MIXOFF!!!
</whoring>

PS: thanks for the nice comments Fishhed and Clause

Reggie, I don't want to diminish the thrill of winning, :) :) but win or lose, if you're the only one that wants that MIDI controller, it's yours.

But, I like the direction you're taking this. Now you guys should start trash talking each other. Like "Dogman can't handle his beer"...Or "Naka's Norwegians can't play hockey"...you know, that kind of thing. :p :D :)

Maybe we could ask one of the ME's here to do the judging, nuttin too fancy and besides that dogman can't handle his beer.

Sure, if that works for everyone. My idea was that the participants vote each other. Or, I can set up a poll on my site (or here). But having someone come in fresh and judge it might be cool, too.

I would vote for something that can't be rigged (like an open poll). Either 1-3 revered persons as judges, RAMI himself, or the participants vote amongst themselves (no self-voting, of course).

And Xstatic, your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries!

If I do a poll on my site, the best I can do is set it up so that you have to register and then it only lets you vote once a day. The most "cheating" that can happen is if everyone votes for themselves once a day. Problem with that, is that everyone will get the same amount of votes if everyone used their daily vote on themselves. We'd have to trust each not to vote for yoursleves. I also like th idea of getting someone neutral from here that didn't enter, to judge it. Maybe even 2 or 3 people.

Reggie, I'm going to turn your mix into a veggie! :p Yeah I don't know you but I thought I'd start up the trash talking :)

Anyway, Ramman, I'll post my mix up soon (any deadline in mind?)... I'll have to fight the slow computer cause I've never used 19 tracks before...

Reggie, I'm gonna make your mix look like a weggie!!!

(trashtalk)

Yeah right... I eat shit like you guys for breakfast....

Dogman shocks the world by becoming tanked!! and I'm almost there... recording crappy demos... but anyway, the point of this post is that yeah, kickass tune... hearing all the individual parts makes you appreciate it even more. Good stuff, I'll have some fun mixing this

Personally, I think that all your mothers are so fat, that when they jump for joy..........They get stuck.

Cool...let's start nominating.

I nominate "True-Eurt"....She's not just a musician with great talent, she's also a music FAN. She does know a few people in the contest, though, so even though I'm not worried about her being fair, she might be un-comfortable with that fact. So, I'd understand if she declined, but she's my first nominee.

Wow...

I was thinking of True as a judge also...

'course, we may have to promise to let her spank the winners...

:D

We can make it an all-female panel. True, Betty, and...............Damn, we need more women around here.
