Here`s my attempt.

Your trackings were very nice to work with.

I`m not sure about my results though, anyway it was the best I could do.

I think the song rocks, as I`ve said before.

I tried to make it a bit different, adding some freaky effects :D

Hope its not completely destroyed :o

VERY nice job. I really like the way your mix turned out.

The guitar at the start is pretty cool....that's a good effect for this really. Nice clean mix Nak....bass is good and punchy. Good panning on the vox...pretty cool.

Thanks for the kind words man.

I thought it sounded allright and kinda tight I was a little afraid of overdoing it.

I listened to your second mix, Now I really enjoyed your first mix, very nice on the vox.
The second mix offer some more "air", did you add some extra verb on the vox?.
Sounds awsome, Bass and drums are tight.

Only suggestion is lowering the Lead guitar on the chorus, just a tad though, there is so much info in these choruses with the multilayered vox and such.

Again a nice mixing job, Beers are on me tonight

@Nakatira: Is this a Leslie on the guitar, or just a combination of flanger and chorus (or something completey different :D)? Goes well with my idea of git2, as I too thought that it should sound somewhat sicker than tracked.

@Dogman: Honestly, I like your first mix better. The reverb on the main vocal is too loud IMO, and too "fluttery", if that's even a word. :)

I haven't yet posted my mix here in this thread, so here you go.

Its a Leslie allright, driven quite heavy, pluss a tad of verb.

I used Some slapback delay on the final solo, tried to give it a Fripp-sound :)

I like your mix, its very open, evrything is clear, and easy to spot.

Bass is really in your face.

Some nice verb added on the drums, I tend to keep em` dry at all times :D

The backing vox could be higher, specially the distant could come out more.

Anyway, all in all; you`ve done good. :)

Thanks, man. I deliberately kept the sparse backing that far down so that they don't collide with the others, especially during the last chorus.

@Rami: I just noticed that one line of the vocals is out of time around 2:35, where all the instruments stop and you say "over you". Comes quite late in your mix.

Hey guys. I'll listen to everything when I get home. This is really cool.

Nessbass...Yes, I moved that vocal over when I realised that the part that was there goes so sharp and doesn't sound good. So, I took the "Over You" from the 3rd chorus and pasted in. Then I realised that I moved it over by mistake, but thought it sounded cool. That was a result of error. Like I said, as long as you don't add any keyboards, loops, drum machines or samples, you can mangle this tune all you want. I'm not saying you have to change it, because the few mixes I've heard so far are great, but do whatever you want.

Raw con!!!

Here's my last one for a while...we are going out of town tomorrow for a couple of weeks. I tried to make this a bit better, put more emphasis on the vox again.....Mix4

Thanks guys.... :D

Hey, I was wondering where you've been. We miss you in my forum too. I'll keep this going for a while. Dogman's going away for a few weeks anyway. But if we find that everyone has submitted before he comes back, we'll ask him if he wants us to wait or to use this as a final.

Hey man...I'm pretty happy with what I have so far...so you decide. If it's still open, I will continue to tweak as I learn, but don't hold things up for me. I always hear stuff I want to change, but sometimes, you shouldn't do that.... :D

Where do you keep running off to for weeks at a time? Are you a secret spy?

Nice solid mix.

I started mine last night and should have it complete sometime tonight. I am definitely doing some experimentation. I hope the critics will love it.

BTW, are there any judges involved in this, or are you just going to pick the mix you like best as "the winner"?

I'm a bum. :D

We have a cabin up in the hills, and we are still building stuff, so I have to actually work up there this time. (it needs a second bathroom.)
Wanna come up and help? :D

Hey Dogman, bon voyage

I checked your mix4. it sounds allright, maybe a little to verby on the guitars.

I think I like your first mix best.

Theire all very clean and nicely detailed though.

But no1 is NO1 :D

Honestly, I haven't decided. I would rather not pick the winner, only because I probably have the least objective ear for this tune.

I was going to suggest just having a poll in my forum to choose the winners. Or, if we have enough entrants, just have the entrants vote on their favorite mix. Or, I can pick a judging panel. What do you guys think?

Nakatira said:

Gotta second that.

@Rami: Maybe, if we're only a few entrants, we could each rate the others' mixes in a pseudo-PMC fashion. But that'd be quite a lot of work for each of us. So maybe we should just enter our top3 or something. But we'd still need someone to compile the results. On the other hand, a public poll might be nice as well, as it wouldn't be limited to the entrants.

This is just a suggestion;

How about if you Rami get some of your music pals, say two.
who are not affiliated with us.

Give them a blind test.

Just number them on a cd, and then ask your pals to take notes.

That should be very unbiased and objective.

anyway this is all fun, and If you decide to jugde them yourself, I`m sure no one will hold a grugde for being last, third or forth.
I know I wont, I`m just happy that I got to enter, and as long as I get the alesis, I`m all good :D

You`ll figure something out. :)
