No, that's an effect. It is a pulsing noise gate that I hoped would sound like tremolo or a strobe kind of thing. Hey, Perdicament did tell us to be creative, didn't he? If you listen to it a few times, it will grow on ya.timboZ said:Raw, Is that gargling thing an effect or a bad MP3 conversion.![]()
I am a veteran drummer and I happen to like this drummers' choice of cymbal playing during the outro. I like the way it lays back at first so the listener can focus on the outro guitar rif. Then when the shouting comes in, it echos those changing rifs and accents along with every one. Go have another listen, you'll begin to hear the unique language of it all.Psyko said:One more thing..
The drums are good recorded but the drummer has some problems which cymbal to play in the certain part. If you look this outro you clearly see wrong use of ride cymbal in the beginning. When he switch on crash there is suddenly a huge change of energy.
But this is only my opinion.
...sorry for my bad English![]()

There's some problems with the mix... None of which are major, in my opinion... Except for maybe the bass-heavy, bedroom mixed thing.... Not to mention I'm mixing on tiny Roland DS-30A's...
oh well.. give it a listen and lemme know what ya think....
ssh... The vocal should be louder in certain places, the overheads should be a little quiter, the toms lack definition and are too loud, and the kick is giving me problem cutting through... argh!... Then again I'm an early Black Sabbath lover, so my mix has some in common with them.. lol.. bass heavy and thick!
Cool contest though.. Thanks!
P.S. Love the last minute of the song! diggin'!

No offense but, frankly, I am tired of signing up for every friggin website that comes down the pike. A lot of those types of sites offer something for free just to get people to sign up. Then they turn around and sell your email address to 50 other companies. No thanks.

We need some volunteers for judging...(True can ya help out here?)
I believe it's 17 tracks total... I left them as .WAV(44.1/24) files in .RAR format... the files are here:

The mix I did (if you wanna hear it) is here:
I suppose there are no rules as far as mixing goes on it...I tend to like creative mixes so feel free to add any effects.... The way I have it mixed is a pretty close representation to how it sounds live as far as effects go (vocal effects espically) but that dosn't mean that is the way it needs to be done...
the tracks are un touched...it's the raw tracks, no comp, eq, cleaning...etc..
I'll post the deadline once things start rolling...
I believe all the tracks are labled when ya un-zip them...lemme know if there are any problems....
