I wrote this right after "Young Love," still trying to be country....even though I really don't like country. But why does a person climb a mountain???? I mixed it before I could apply all the great tips from this forum but still welcome all critiques. Thanks.

Hey,

I wasn't too keen on the lyrics at first, but they turned me around into liking them by the time the tune was done. Nice timeline/detail lyrics:)

That tamb (and snare at times) on the right was kinda loud and distracting. Same for the wood block. I think you could trade some drum and percusion levels for rhythm levels up in general.

Nice voice again! I liked the git fills on the left. Low profile and perfectly placed. The backup vox were nice but could use some articulation IMO.

Another Cool tune Sir.

must say (and admit) I don't likes the country music;

but this didn't have that annoying "yeaoouuuuw-w-w-w my dang hear'ts breakin' in tw-o-o-o-o fiddle-fiddle-fiddle-fiddle-lapsteel-lapsteel shitkick" (as the guy's tonsils rise and lower from all the yodelin') thing that BUGS THE SHIT out of me :)

Seriously, I can appreciate most all music -- and this was pretty convincingly good country, for what that's worth. Actually, it inspires me to someday do a country tune (maybe something more along the auspices of crawdad's style ;))

This'lll play out in tham thar sticks.

Sorry,I love country music.
And this is some of the finest.

You have a real good country voice, and the back up vocals sound
fine.
I like the acoustic guitar, how did you record it?

I think your climbing the right mountain my friend!:D

Really enjoyed it.

Best to you,
Pete

Actually just funning with ya clay ;)

No I don't like country, but this was a really nice effort -- good luck!

Crawdad sings the blues man!:D

Clay,
I just didnt feel it man.LOL.It seems like this was a forced effort to see if you could pull off a country tune.Am I right? Hell,I could be completely wrong.

Kisses and Giggles and Butterflies sound like the type of singing you really feel.I can hear and feel emotion in both of those tunes but this one seems to be distant from you and not part of you.(am I making sense?).

With that said ,I still love your voice and the harmonies you hit on this tune.

Andy Williams is one of my favorite singers( got hooked on him from listening to his Christmas Albums when I was a kid)and he tried to do a country album a few years back and it just wasnt him.It was a forced Project.

But this is just my opinion of course.Im a fan man.;)

I liked the melody and the feel. I wasn't nuts about the words. It sounded like you were kinda poking fun at people who listen to country music a bit. Sorta like--maybe this is what I think I'm supposed to say to be country. I have to admit, though, it had some funny lines--like the remote thing.

Good country--if there is such a thing anymore--shares real honesty and from the heart lyrics. Your lyrics didn't convice me on this one. Sorry to say so, but I spent ten years writing country for a publisher in Nashville, so I have more than a clue about this.

All is not lost, however. Your melodic sense is really great. Combine that with something you really feel in a deep way and there is magic waiting to happen. You know musically how to write--and I haven't heard your other stuff, so I can't comment on your total lyric powers, but you should listen to more country before you try and write any more of it.

Merle Haggard had a song called "Misery and Gin" once, so your title is bona fide. Oh, and I wrote a song called Heartaches and Wine once. It was much worse than your song, believe me.

You guys are great... yeeeeeeee-yawwwwww. Loved your comments. Crawdad, you know, I think you were right, I was poking fun at country music and I guess I didn't even realize it. Good country is tough to write. Maybe it just frustrates me that I can't so it. Sure is fun trying though. Since you've been a pro-writer, I'd appreciate your take on "Butterflies," at :

Thanks.

Pete.. I recorded the acoustic using a Stedman N-90 dynamic mic. I used a Roland V-880 digital recorder for that one. Now I have a Korg D-1600 which I like much better.

my windoze media player wouldn't do it for some reason. winamp crashes the computer, so it's gone. sorry:(

I've been having a lot of problems with WMP not streaming tunes lately too.....forces me into a download situation.

Ok it's getting late here and I gotta get to bed. Heres my op. for what its worth. I listened to your other song and this one don't seem with your style. Sorry I'm drunk again....
