Well you asked for it, get that bucket ready and listen to what years of loud rock and roll, Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Thrash and Yoko Ono inspired.... hahahaha
The top 5 songs were recorded with the Roland vs2480, the rest were done on a tascam 688. Personally i think someting is lost when you mix songs to MP3 but oh well. Give the mP3s a few to load pls.

utoh.....

I see the read count going up but no replies.... Speachless :) , or still puking :(

oh man.... Did you know me then, do you know me now?

I guess I should make this clear NOW, befor it gets out of hand. I have never nor will I ever look down upon any ethnic group, sex, or color, or what ever. Sure I understand that I look like A poster boy for some white Natzi group, but did you even listen to the music? That Pic was from an old band I was in call EarthDog, and Ill tell you what, if came near any of us with that racist crap, I would personally make sure you would get refitted for a new set of teef! The whole band looked that way because we wanted people to trash us befor they heard us, I see its still working. One of the best shows we ever did was for Rock against Racisim at the Sancuary in Queens NYC, which btw is where Im from, I live in vermont now. Maybe I came to the wrong place with my music... Im sure theres other forums, sorry to waste your time everyone.

My spirit has been and forever shall be MANY colors.

I'm listening to Daydream. I guess, the title caught my eye.

Very nice playing. The tune is very good. The mix though is not doing it for me. The drums and lead guitar are where they should be but everything else is getting lost. Some creative panning and judicious level maintenence might help.

I hate it when people don't consider the equipment used when judging a mix, after all, not everything is possible with lower end stuff (like a multitrack cassette recorder). Given what you're recording with I think you're getting a pretty good result. I'd like to hear what you can come up with when you get some better gear...

That said, I'm going to listen to the Roland Stuff...

Ok, the promise is fulfilled. Popwaltz sounds really nice. I'm not really into the synthy distorted guitar sound but I do like the song and the playing. Very sensitive, good playing.

Jon

thx

yea the top 5 songs are recorded on the VS2480, but even though its an awesome machine im still learning alot about recording. The rest of the songs are at best good takes but crappy mixes cause they are straight into my computer, no after mixing :( and on an old tascam 688. Ive read alot of posts here about recording so far, I hope to increase my skills in mixing and such.

'My Struggle'

Man, after seeing your pic, I didn't expect what I heard. The first 4 tunes are really good. I love Eric Johnson.

Nice job.

haha .. yea

That pic is harsh, but thats life in the city man. I dont look like that anymore, my hair is very long, much less threatening....

About the Eric Johnson thing, I really like his stuff as well, the whole Venus Isle CD is my favorate.

Very Cool. I'm gonna' go see him next weekend in Austin. (Eric Johnson & Alien Love Child). Sorry to ramble, but I listened to some more tunes last night. You've got a couple of production issues that I can't articulate very well, but man, I'd be damned proud of those first 5 tunes if I were you. Again, nice work.

You spoiled bastard! :D

Man I wish he would come back down this way.My brother can cover any EJ tune down to a T.....he's definetly my favorite guitar player to listen to in this day and age.

Speaking of EJ, do any of you guys have his Austin City Limit appearances on tape? I had his debute from 1986, but it's a pretty worn copy and you can barely even see anything now!
I'm willing to trade a G3 copy for it!

sorry, sigma9... now that people are equating you to EJ, I'm going to listen to all of your stuff. Long live EJ!!!!!!

Kick ass... do you gig? where? when? DAMN!!!!

I compared the newer stuff to the older stuff... massive improvement in quality. And the older stuff still kicked ass!!!

Not much to add other than keep up the good work!

That's funny...I don't think "spoiled" is an adjective that has ever been used to describe me, but I guess that living 89 miles from a music mecca like Austin has the ability to spoil anybody.

JR#97 - I might be able to do you one better. I ran sound for EJ in 1992 at a club called (no shit) "Bullwinkle's" in Nacogdoches, Tx. I asked him if I could tape the show, and he was totally cool about it, so I did. The recording was off the board, except for one overhead used for the crowd. It's actually not bad, and it's about 2.5 hours of solid music. I've never converted it from tape to CD, but I was actually planning on doing that for the show next weekend in case he wanted it (more of a ploy to talk to him, really). I'll be happy to burn you a copy.

SIGMA9 - Sorry 'bout the interruption, but you could definitely be compared to worse. One more bump doesn't hurt either, right?

bye,
Chris

I have to ask,why did you post a thread named Mine Kompf then?
A book written by the biggest mass murder/genicide promoting scumbag in the history of the world.

Dude you just insulted a LOT of GOOD people around here!

Just asking.

Two things...yeah, the title is insulting as hell, and that's your choice, I guess...and I hope that merely posting in this thread doesn't make some people get the idea that those commenting on your tunes in any way share any political ideology you may or may not have. I hope your title is just some misguided attempt at humor, but if it's not, then I think everyone HERE would be better served if you confined your political views to...well...anywhere but here. You've got a real gift, and I would hate to see you alienate yourself and your music from a large potential audience. Plus, Nazis suck.

Second, I read my last post and realized that I sound like a TOTAL name dropper, so I should add that I didn't mean to imply that I'm buddy-buddy with Eric Johnson; to the contrary, if he remembered me at all, it would be ONLY because I was responsible for the worst live sound he's ever had to endure.

It's probably just as bad that I had no idea what Mine Kompf meant..... I think I was insulted and I didn't even know it! Then again, I was on a hockey team called the Mud Ducks and had no idea what that meant either... go figure. No wonder I got looked at weird by a few people.. especially since I'm not a WASP. Despite the thread title, the dude kicks ass on the guitar. Unity through music....

for the record ....i dont giva damn what the name of this thread is...words are just that...words......but music....
...holy shit man....i listened to "v.h.s.".....very hard shit right?...lmao....nice all the way around....and if thats you in the picture why in the hell would anyone say anything BUT nice stuff about this ?.....i mean to yer face anyway..hehehe.....cool bro.
and although the guitar sounds great the rest of the backing.."band"...isnt as sonically nice...to me anyway...ill now be listening to more .....and i hope that "unsigned 2001"..changes real soon for you..if only it had something to do with actual talent then it would be easy right???

Oh really? The words contained in "Mine Kompf" were written by the biggest mass murderer in modern times. It was the attitude that you have that led to his succes in murdering millions of innocent men, women and children.

If people would have paid a-fuckin-tention and killed adolph hitler before he became a monster, millions of people would have lived.

Instead, people had the attitude you have, that words dont mean anything and he killed the fuck out millions of jews.Words are EVERY fuckin thing man.

WORDS do matter. The words of a man are THE man.

I dont have any sympathy for nazi bullshit.

For the Record

You are an awsome guitar player sigma. You have some of the most melodic rock guitar that I've heard outside of the pros.Great stuff.Im just turned off by the title of the thread.

Chris hit the nail on the head about making a political statement. This isnt the place for it.People here share all kinds of differing views on politics and religion but they very seldom talk about them because it does alienate people on the board and the focus turns from the music to bullshit.

I hope the title of the thread was just a joke in poor taste.
