Might buy me a Taylor

A couple of Recomendations:

This guitar may mave been subjected to high temperature and humidity. There is a chance the wood contains more moisture than is ideal. It is a good idea to keep it from drying out too quickly. Use an appropriate humidifier and keep it in it's case when not being used. Play it frequently. This is assuming there is no visible moisture damage present.

Get a good quality guitar polish and clean the guitar thoroughly. There may be residue from the smoke that could harm the finish over time. Be very anal about this.

Gently tap all over the body and listen for rattles or unusual sounds. Reach inside the body and feel for anything loose. If the guitar got warm enough, some glue joints could be compromised. A once-over by a qualified luthier would be a good idea. Pay close and frequent attention as this guitar acclimates to your environment. If an issue arrises, it helps to catch it early and address it pronto.

None of this is meant to scare you. If you don't smell a strong smoke smell or see any damage there is probably nothing wrong with it.

Good luck and great tunes.

:)

Congrats on the new guit, dragonworks. Give her lots of love.

Congrats!
That is a beautiful guitar. Wanna pick up one for me ;)

You should go over to www.acousticguitarforum.com and give them a shout. They used to be the Taylor Guitar forum. They'd love to hear your story. There's even a thread around right now about "whats the oddest way you got a guitar?" :D

I'm going to second the humidifier vote. With an all-solid wood guitar like that going through a fire is about the worst-case scenario (no pun intended). I'm guessing you knew that already from having a Guild.

Congrats!

this one you can see the damage, others you cant. I just like the sound and the way this one played. I guess it is like buying faded and worn jeans, it is already broken in. I could have bought one where no damage could be seen for another 150.00 but I ain't into the looks, so thats that. The fire was a few months ago so most of the damage should be done.
