Hey guys a couple of dumb questions so sorry in advance.

Is the MIDIVerb III worth $60? I have a chance to get one for that.

Also with the name MIDIVerb does that mean that it will sync to incoming clock or MTC for synced effects?

Sorry for the dumb questions. I havent ever used or owned a Alesis Midiverb before. :o I have used digitechs(yuk).

Thanks

$60 is pretty typical for a III. I don't think it can sync effects, I think all the MIDI does is allow you to select different effects by sending control changes. So if you have a MIDI sequence, you can select a different effect on the unit at different times in a song, or you can change effects from song to song, or both.

Historically, the MidiVerb II had the classic effects that everybody ooh'd and aah'd about, which is odd, because it's a pretty noisy unit, although I do love its reverbs.

I've never heard anything remarkable said about the MidiVerb III, other than that it is a basic, low-cost effects unit.

For a lot more functionality in the "under $150" camp, see if you can find an Alesis Wedge. That's my advice.

IF it's in MINT condition, and you cant afford anything else.... it does patch changes, like bugsi says, and lets you tweak the settings and save your tweaks, but that's about it. This unit was the precursor (sort of) to the Quadraverb. A Quadraverb for < $100 would be a much better buy....

Or for a bit more, get a Midiverb IV. I have one as well as a Lexicon LXP-15II (Jim Williams modded) and still think the Midiverb IV sounds fantastic.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Actualy I can nab the III for around $40-50 now as he wants to get rid of it.

I'll let yah know how it all works out.

I had the III for a while. It's a decent unit at that price. If you like the II, you'll like the sound of the III. It has a lot in common with the II, but you can tweak the settings, which you can't on the II, which is preset only. If I remember right the delays are mono – no stereophonic acrobatics like on the II. But the reverb is similar to that on the II.

I've had them all since the original Midiverb and Midifex.

I still have the II, IV, Q2 and Midifex.

At that price you're not really choosing something or the other like we were when they were new. It's a decent extra box to have around.
