Midi Metronome intermittent in Cubase LE

Hi Everyone,
I know there's got to be a simple explanation for this but I just can't figure it out.
I've been using the Clave in the LM-7 as my metronome sound (like everyone else I hate the beep). The trouble is that sometimes I open the same file I'd been working on the day before and the clave is nowhere to be heard. I can see when I open the LM-7 viewer that the light is flashing on the clave, but I can't hear it. I try reconnecting everything again and again and intermittently the clave will come on, only to leave again a little while later.
If I restart the program several times eventually it will come on again for a little while. If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, I'm there!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone,
Caro.

Ok, me again. The plot thickens...
I've now worked out that the Clave Metronome stops whenever I SOLO a track...ANY track! If anyone can tell me why this is and how I can prevent this, it would be great.
Thanks again.
Caro

That is the definition of solo, only the one track, nothing else.

The computer doesn't know that you're using it as a metronome, so it thinks you are just using it as an instrument. For all it knows, that clave part could be part of your song. You should be able to set a solo defeat for that track by it, it should stay unchecked.

I think Cubase (even SX) just just strange like that. Sometimes my metronome suddenly stops all together, and I have to turn it off and on a couple of times to get it going again.

Weird. My SX3 uses Ch10 on my Yamaha SW1000 card without problem.

If in doubt, stick to the beep....

...ok, maybe not.

I know it sounds pointless but try opening and then closing the metronome settings window before starting playback and see if that makes a difference.
