I did search but found no answer so now I will ask:
What does "error opening midi in device mean"?

I can get the computer to play my keyboard but nothing from my keyboard to computer. I have my midi ins going to outsand I know everything is plugged in correct. My soundcard is a creative ensoniq pci. I am trying to sequence from a korg poly 800. I can't think of any other important info. nope.
except thanks.

What's your PC sequencer (MIDI Application) ? How do you describe "right MIDI input output" routing ?

:)

well I was trying to use the piano roll in n track. when it gets to the first not I inserted a new window opens up and says "error opening midi in device"

>How do you describe "right MIDI input output" routing ?

all I meant was the midi in to the computer is coming out of the keyboard and the midi out of the computer is going midi in to the keyboard.

I am sure there is something I am overlooking, something like needing to update drivers? but then when I looked into that the user reviews said don't do it these updates suck...
damn computer!

That error usually means some type of driver error or conflict. The best solution depends on what OS you are using. You may want to try the newer drivers but keep the old ones handy just in case. Since it's not working right now you can't screw it up by trying the newer ones. Worst case scenario is it still won't work. Good luck.

hello. I should have mentioned I am using windows 98. I down loaded new drivers but have not installed them yet. maybe this weekend. It is so hard to do what you want.
