Hello people.
Well there are so many forooms here, not sure which one to post this topic in.
I have a Roland XV-5050, and Cakewalk Plasma Express 2003, and Cubase VST/32 on my PC.
The XV-5050 is connected to my PC via its USB(MIDI) port. So in Cubase/Cakewalk I configure the MIDI devices, setting the XV-5050 as the MIDI-IN device. I click 'ok'. Then when I re-enter the MIDI device config. The XV-5050 is de-selected and the generic PC MIDI device selected instead.
So both sequencers recognize the XV-5050 but won't allow it to be used as a MIDI device even though I can highlight and choose it, resetting to generic everytime I quit the device panel.
Also, with both sequencers, the MIDI LED indicators, to show a connection is present, do not light-up.
Now with the XV-5050's own software I achieve a MIDI connection with the PC, the XV's MIDI light is lit and can be controlled via the PC.
So I know the USB(MIDI) port is functioning correctly, the cable fine, the XV has a stable MIDI connection with the PC. So why can I not get a connection with the XV to Cubase/Cakewalk?
So briefly:
The XV is connected via MIDI to my PC - no problem.
Cubase/Cakewalk recognize the XV by displaying it in their MIDI config. menu.
Each time I select the XV, then exit the config menu, Cubase/Cakewalk reset to generic MIDI devices.
In the PC's Sounds/Multimedia - Audio. XV-5050 is selected as the MIDI playback device.
ANY suggestions, advice greatly received.
Thank you.
