When I have started my CPU and have all my sound muted , not a single program open....

I can still hear the microphone as though I had a track enabled and was intentionally recording.
The reason this is a problem is that when I do enable a track that my mic is set up with there is immediate latency/unwanted echo
The now enabled audio track records both me initially singing into the mic, and the playback I was hearing from start up. I've seen tracks offset for a "fatter" sound, but this is just not that effect.
So far I believe this to be a windows settings issue due to my opening statement.

Here is a list of my hardware, followed by software settings.

Presonus AudioBox usb interface 2x2

Studio one 2 artist with some additional content

Acoustic Guitar (Austin brand)

Shure Prologue Microphone (Poor exterior, but I have heard this mic produce perfect sound using my current setup, with the one change more than likely being the variable setting being my problem.)

I have checked cords on the acoustic as I have multiples, I notice it picks up static and the bar to the right og the track that shows the levels of pitch (I think my jargon is right?) is constantly at about 10% (There is occasional popping as well, which is new, but that is optional answering.)

In the sounds area of the control panel I have:

Playback: HDMI High Def Audio Speakers NOT PLUGGED IN.
Speakers AudioBox USB. ENABLED
Speakers High Def Audio device DISABLED.
PNP Sound Device DISABLED (This is a USB Mic that I use for Dragon Naturally speaking.)

Recording: Line Audiobox USB ENABLED
Microphone High Def Audio Device Unplugged DISABLED
Microphone High Def Audio Device DISABLED
PNP Sound Device DISABLED

Thank you for your time I read good reviews about where to post this and they sent me to you gentlemen and exceptions.

I'm not familiar with Studio One, but in any DAW, the Presonus should be selected as both your input and output device.

I assume your 'earbuds' are plugged into the Presonus. You are hearing the mic because the Presonus is on and its internal mixer is set for 'direct monitoring', but it also sounds like you have the tracks you are recording set up for monitoring, too - hence the 'echo' heard form the latency-delayed track. Turn off the track monitoring on the track you are recording.

When you say to turn off the track monitoring, do you mean the ability to hear the track while I am recording?

If so, even without hearing what I am currently recording on a track it records the output that I CAN hear (I don't really know how to differentiate the two other than one is constant and the other responds inside my software.)

Thank you for your quick response though.

You direct monitor your input from the Presonus while listening to other tracks already recorded in your DAW. Your DAW would be recording the new input from your Presonus onto a new track.
I think you are saying that the 'already-recorded' tracks are being recorded onto the new track as well? Check your Presonus mixer settings if this is the case.

First off thank you very much for prompt support. Extremely appreciated.

Sadly, I've been home-recording for about 5 days now, and even with me being relatively with it most of the time, I am in over my head. The Jargon, terms, places I've been told to go, things I've been told to do are hard because I have no idea what any of it is. So forgive me for not being able to use the help like I should.

Here is what I have got so far:

I have been trying to (route the sound [Using the Sounds in the Control panel.)

I don't believe this has anything to do with it. So I have reset the recording and playback to the Audiobox, and disabled all other mics and speakers.

I am now turning my attention to the knobs on the audio box itself, the one that is standing out is the mixer, I am posting this before I go to the room to mess with the results, so I do not know if it will fix the problem, if someone replies before I update, I would ask what the difference in result would be: All the way clockwise, all the way counter-clockwise.

What the two knobs that are labeled with corresponding input labels do, and this is off-subject, but also if I can turn a finalized recording into an E-Mailable file that can be opened by someone who does not have my DAW software?

-Thank you again in advance.

Ten seconds after I posted this I trial-and-errored the mixer knob.

RTFO! Thank you for your help Arcaxis. :))))

F and this is off-subject, but also if I can turn a finalized recording into an E-Mailable file that can be opened by someone who does not have my DAW software?

-Thank you again in advance.

Render your mix/recording as a WAV or AICC file, then it can be inserted in any other DAW. Note that these files can be large, so better to upload them to a file share site, such as dropbox, so the person can then download it.

Excellent answer I see this thread dying out and my closing question is really that my mom is pestering the shit out of me to send her a bleeping song. She's got 0 computer skills. So I have to drop this thing in an attachment so that she can open it, or give her the address to above mentioned site, and she can open the downloaded file with normal windows 7 "Non Audio-Record/Mix" software. ??
