Hello everyone. Ok here is my setup for the track. A Tacoma Acoustic (Sorry dont remember the Model #) but it is prett nice, costed me a nice chunk of change. 2 Rode NT3 Microphones, running into a Presonus Bluetube Comp, into a Delta-44 soundcard. I mic'd the Acoustic in a X-Y config with the Mics. I just need opinions, because the sound I am getting is kind of boomy and brittle. There is no comp, no eq, no nothing added to the little blurb. Just a dry signal. Please check it out, it is the first one on the page.

And also does the level sound good? Not to low? etc.... Any and all help would be awesome.

Hi,
Maybe this is me being a stupid newbie but, I gotta ask.....
Why are you using two mics?
I always record with one...any reason for having two?
I hear two different levels....as if the A and low E were being played on one track...and the other 4 strings were being played on another track....
Maybe it's just me though...I dunno?

The D, G, B, and high E strings sound too high (volume wise...)

Like I said...I know little about this stuff...it's just what I hear...ya know?

Well....never mind.
Now I know, thanks to Gidge (we posted at the same time...I wished I had waited...)

I always use one mic and put it right in front of the hole...ya know? Works for me but, I am gonna have to get another mic now and a pre and try these other ways.......sheesh...I need some gear.

. . . Another one bites the dust . . .

I need more gear - welcome to the asylum!

Yeh that is what I am looking for more sparkle, and yeh that website you gave me Gidge that is where I was going before to get the differnt options of micing, that is where I found the X-Y thing.

Tusin,

I agree with Gidge, over the shoulder is the way to go.
I started doing that, thanks to Harvey, and it eliminated all the boominess I was getting.

You can modifiy it a little by putting the stand in front of you and pointing the mic down at shoulder height.
Makes it easier to set up by yourself.

Since your using 2 mics, try the other one pointed at the 12th fret about 8 to 10 inches away, seems to cut the boominess also.
I don't know about phase problems doing this,I only use one mic.

I just listened to your recording, nice sounding guitar indeed!

Sounds like your mics might be to close though.

The other thing I do is double track the guitar, play the second track with a capo higher, and pan them somewhere between 9 and 3 o'clock and full stereo.
Really gives it a full sound.

Hope this helps,
Pete
