Hi, i need some help with my micing/pa system. Right now im trying to upgrade the vocal amplification that my band uses (currently its a 5$ mic and a guitar amp with a blown out tube..). I just bought an SM58 for around 50$ and im about to buy a PA cab with a 12 inch speaker, but im still in the dark on mixers. What type of mixer should i use to get the mic to the PA? I was looking at a Peavy 5 channel (1 mic, 4 1/4th inch), but the only controls on it are a single volume knob, and a single tone control each. Is that enough? I saw for 50$ more a 4 channel with around 5-6 knobs and EQ... I just dont know.... Thanks for the help.

Well, if this narrows your search down... Buy a mixer with XLR inputs. It's the only way you can expect to get any sort of gain out of your Shure.

Powered mixers are ok, but it's even better to get a good mixer and a good power amp. That way either/or can be upgraded.
