Anyone record a great singer to an MR-8? Mic sims seem to be the best effects on the unit, but I wonder if recording dry produced better results... Thanks

I didn't even notice the MR8 had mic sims!!!
Are you sure?!?
Must be under one of the many menus which I have neglected to navigate...

When using a Shure Beta 58a dynamic mic plugged directly into the MR-8 I can tell a lot of difference. With a dynamic mic the tube sim sounds very muffled, the dynamic sim sounds grainy, and the condenser sim accentuates the highs (in a good way). Using a dynamic mic with the condenser setting sounds best (at least with a Beta 58a and SM58).

I've mostly used the tube setting, but almost feel like there's some kind of artifact being injected into the signal - either like aliasing, or a slight variable time shift. It's as if there is latency in the sim and it sometimes just gets overwhelmed.
No substitute for a good mic and pre, I guess...
Still sounds amazing, though!
